Both teams are already guaranteed to take part in the main LAN event of World Cyber Arena 2016, set to be held in China this December. Today they will play not only for bargaining rights but also for a hefty prize pool. The winner will get $27140, while the loser will have to settle for $13570.
Vega and Kaipi have already played each other in the second round of the qualifiers. Kaipi won that game 2:0. It’s worth noting, though, that Vega played the match with a stand-in. Former Virtus.pro player, God, subbed for fn.
Bookies predict a win to Kaipi and it’s hard not to agree with them. During the qualifiers, they gave up only a single map, in a match with Escape Gaming, which Kaipi proceeded to win 3:1. Their squad features three experienced players from the famous Speed Gaming/Cloud 9 roster – SingSing, bOne7, and pieliedie. However, pieliedie is playing for Kaipi only temporarily. After the qualifiers are over he will return to Team Secret. Other two players on the Kaipi roster are – Dota 2 veteran SexyBamboe, and a young Israeli up-and-comer TheCoon.
As for Vega Squadron, their chances to win shouldn’t be underestimated. Their new roster is performing really well. After their loss to Kaipi, Vega demolished Team Empire 2:0 and won against Escape in the loser’s bracket final with the score 3:2.
With only two players from the previous season remaining in the squad, CemaTheSlayeR and Mag-, the team was strengthened by three very strong arrivals. The most notable of the pack is Artiom "fng" Barshack, former Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro captain. He is among the most experienced captains in CIS and is known for unique game strategies. Artiom also boasts one of the highest MMR in the world. With 8339 points he is in the 7th spot on the EU leaderboards.
The carry position will be played by Rostislav "fn" Lozovoi. He previously played for PRIES Gaming, Power Rangers, and Team Empire. Despite lacking any big achievements fn is considered to be one of the most talented players in CIS. His best heroes are Slark, Invoker, Juggernaut.
The last member of the Vega squad is Bogdan "Iceberg" Vasilenko, a mid-lane player. He became known while playing for CIS Rejects/Team Spirit, where he proved himself as one of the best mid players in CIS. His best heroes are Invoker, Shadow Fiend, Zeus, and Queen of Pain.
Pretty much everyone expects Kaipi to win, but we’re sure that Vega won’t give up without a fight. Considering good odds, it might be worth to bet a small amount on them. For example, GG.BET is very confident that Vega will lose. Their odds are 1.55:2.40 I favor of Kaipi. If you don’t want to take a risk, placing a bet on Kaipi is a safer choice.
For those that don’t want to predict a match winner there is another choice – map winner bets. Knowing how aggressive CIS teams are, it is fairly safe to assume that Vega will take game 1. Betting $10 on it will net you $21. The same bet for Kaipi will result in you winning $16. Also, it is possible that the match will last 4 or 5 maps.
The game will be played today at 17:00 CEST. We expect to see an eventful match with Kaipi winning 3:1!
